MARMO
Emily R. (Klusak) 89 of Hollywood, Florida passed away on February 5, 2018. Born in 1928 in Cleveland, Ohio. The youngest of 9 children of Czechoslovakian immigrants, she graduated from South High School in 1946. She eventually met her future husband, Anthony Marmo, at a dance and they married in 1949. They moved outside of Cleveland to Wakeman, where her children, Gigi and Jay, were born. In 1959 the family moved to Florida, where Emily stayed the rest of her life.
Living first in Pompano Beach, Emily stayed busy as a homemaker, raising her children and volunteering with the Symphony Society and the Garden Club. Later, after moving to Miramar, Emily became interested in painting, eventually winning prizes in local shows. In 1974, Emily and Tony divorced, but remained friends. Emily had been working selling fine jewelry, another of her passions, but soon became a toll collector for the Florida Turnpike. In time, Emily was promoted to supervisor and remained one until her retirement. During this time, Emily purchased an apartment in Hollywood, where she lived for 30 years.
Emily is survived by her son Jay, her Grand daughter Christina and her daughter-in-law Mary. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Broward County Humane Society and the YMCA.
