Obituary of Marie R. LaCavalla

Marie R. LaCavalla, 89 of Hallandale passed away Sunday November 25, 2018 in Aventura, Florida. Born September 5, 1929. In Repose Thursday November 29, 2018 from 5-9 P.M. with a 7 P.M. chapel service. Entombment to follow Friday November 30, 2018 at 10 A.M. at Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery, 11411 Northwest 25th Street, Doral, Florida. Arrangements by Joseph A. “Mama” “Grandma Bingo” Marie R. (Spinelli) LaCavalla, of Hallandale, Florida, died suddenly on Sunday, November 25, 2018.  She was born on September 5, 1929 to Giacomo and Luigia Spinelli of the Bronx, New York.  She was an avid gambler and an amazing cook.  She loved cruising down A1A at 15 mph in her red Mustang.  Most of all, “Mama” loved to bowl and participated on many leagues throughout her life.  She was also a member of the Red Hats Society. 

She is survived by her three children, Jack A. LaCavalla of Bronxville, New York, Maria L. LaCavalla of Pembroke Pines, Florida and Anthony V. LaCavalla of Riviera Beach, Florida.  She is survived by her older sister Lucy (Spinelli) DiGioia of Davie, Florida.  Marie is also survived by eight grandchildren, Julian Fernandez, Christina McDonald, Lauren LaCavalla, Edmund Fernandez, Ashley Rego, Danielle MacDowell, Daniel LaCavalla and Jaclyn LaCavalla and 6 great-grandchildren, Christopher, Claire, Anthony, Elizabeth, Allan and Valla. Marie was also survived by Gae DeLorenzo, a lifetime friend.

The viewing hours will be on Thursday, November 29th, 2018 from 5:00p.m.-9:00p.m. at Scarano Funeral Home at 9000 Pines Boulevard, Pembroke Pines, Florida with a prayer service at 7:00p.m. The service will be held on Friday, November 30th, at 8:30 a.m. followed by an interment at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Cemetery on 11411 NW 25th Street, Doral, Florida.
