Obituary of Oscar de Jesus Quiñones Disla

Oscar de Jesus Quiñones Disla, affectionately referred to as “Negro”, was born in Laguna Salada, Dominican Republic on January 18, 1942. He was the second of eight children born to Ramon Baldemiro Quiñones Dominguez and Aura de Jesus Disla Toro.

Oscar came from humble beginnings, living and working in the countryside of the Dominican Republic. He aspired to be his best and provide more for his family, earning a scholarship to study abroad in Spain in 1963. Upon graduation, Oscar migrated to the United States in 1966 and later reconnected with Elena de los Angeles Quiñones Ruiz from Jaibon Laguna Salada, Dominican Republic. They married in 1971 and together established roots in the United States, opening their home to many family and friends to join them, study and create new opportunities for themselves and generations to follow.

He was a devoted husband, dedicated father and a generous person. Oscar is survived by his loving family:
- Daughters Joannie, Elena Maria and Aura Lilian
- Sons Oscar Jr. and Victor Antonio
- Son-in-laws John and Chris
- Grandchildren Stephanie Lauren, Jenna Elena and Kai Quinn
- Siblings Rosa, Ramon Antonio II (Tono), Rafelo, Victor and Cesar and half-siblings Miguel, Carmen, Sobeida, Leydy, Frank, Iluminada, Josefina, Dilcia, Ramon and José.
Oscar was predeceased by his wife, father, mother and brothers Ramon Antonio I and Derqui.

Oscar’s passions for education and reading fueled his legacy and were the catalysts of change for his family. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Oscar’s honor towards funds that will be used for education and literary needs for aspiring children in his home town of Laguna Salada

Oscar de Jesús Quiñones Disla, cariñosamente conocido como "Negro", nació en Laguna Salada, República Dominicana, el 18 de enero de 1942. Fue el segundo de los ocho hijos del matrimonio entre Ramón Baldemiro Quiñones Domínguez y Aura de Jesús Disla Toro. 

 

Oscar vino de orígenes humildes, viviendo y trabajando en el campo de la República Dominicana. Aspiraba a dar lo mejor de sí mismo y proporcionar más para su familia, obteniendo una beca para estudiar en el extranjero en España en el 1963. Al graduarse, Oscar emigró a los Estados Unidos en 1966 donde se reconectó con Elena de los Ángeles Quiñones Ruiz de Jaibon Laguna Salada, República Dominicana.  Obtuvieron matrimonio en el 1971 y juntos establecieron sus raíces en los Estados Unidos, abriendo su hogar a muchos familiares y amigos ah establecerse en el pais.

 

Era un esposo devoto, un padre dedicado y una persona generosa. Oscar es recordado y extrañado por su familia:

  • Hijos Joannie, Elena Maria, Aura Lilian, Oscar Jr. y Victor Antonio.
  • Yernos John y Chris
  • Nietos Stephanie Lauren, Jenna Elena y Kai Quinn
  • Hermanos Rosa, Ramón Antonio II (Tono), Rafelo, Víctor y César y hermanos de padre Miguel, Carmen, Sobeida, Leydy, Frank, Iluminada, Josefina, Dilcia, Ramón y José.

Se le adelantaron en su fallecimiento su esposa, padre, madre y hermanos Ramon Antonio I y Derqui. 

 

Las pasiones de Oscar por la educación y la lectura alimentaron su legado y fueron los catalizadores del cambio para su familia. En lugar de flores, la familia solicita que se hagan donaciones en honor de Oscar para fondos que se utilizarán en la educación y las necesidades literarias de los niños aspirantes en su ciudad natal Laguna Salada.
