Obituary of Fidel Farias Lemus

Fidel Farias April 24, 1928 – October 15, 2019

Born in Guira de Melena, Cuba to Carmelina and Oliverio Farias.  Always the provider, Fidel started working at an early to help his family.  It was also at an early age in Cuba that Fidel began to pursue his life’s passion of circus performance.  Starting out with his brother Julio and a three-person high hand stand act, Fidel grew as an artist and eventually began performing as a trapeze artist.  He trained relentlessly to become one of the best trapeze performers well known in the circus community.  As a young man, Fidel traveled throughout the world performing for many audiences. 

In 1969, Fidel married his life’s partner Rosalba Farias.  Together they raised five children:  Julio, Carmelina, Greg, Clara, and Pedro.  His commitment to family was demonstrated by his teaching his children the art of flying trapeze.  The “Flying Farias’s” entertained many audiences and set records for their hard work.  Fidel was recognized as one of the world’s premier trapeze catchers. 

His high expectations and drive taught his children to excel at all things they pursue. 

Fidel will live on in all who knew him.  He will be remembered as a man’s man, a true gentleman and an example of what hard work and commitment can foster.

Fidel is survived by his wife Rosalba; his children – Greg, Carmen, Clara, and Pedro; his grand-children – Alex, Devin, David Jr., Gregory, Lazaro, Ryan, Ava, Blake, Gregory Jack, and Giavanna.
