Obituary of Vincent George Levy, Sr.

Vincent George Levy, Sr., 82 of Pembroke Pines passed away Friday November 15, 2019 in Pembroke Pines, Florida. Born August 15, 1937. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Saturday November 30, 2019 from 12 P.M. - 3 P.M. with cremation to follow. Arrangements by Joseph A. Vincent George Levy Sr.,  also known as Vinny, Granty or Mr. Levy, was born August 15, 1937. He was the son of Hilda Mae Frater and Isaac Levy of Freeman’s Hall, Trelawny, Jamaica. 

Vincent cared for his siblings as a teenage boy in Jamaica. He also looked after and grew close to his in-laws Merle, Del and others. He enjoyed music, dancing and had a penchant for clothing design and tailoring.  In 1964, he migrated to the United States in search of better opportunities. 

By profession, he was a self-taught Tailor, Designer and Business Owner. One of his first businesses was a bar in Kingston, Jamaica. He was the manager of a denim factory in Kingston, Jamaica . When he migrated to the US, he owned and operated Granty’s Sportswear in Brooklyn, New York. He owned Pat ’N’ Tony Boutique in Cambria Heights, New York. For the last several years he operated an alteration and tailoring shop in Knightdale, North Carolina.

He is survived by his siblings Delroy Jackson, Victor, Georgia and others. He is also survived by his ex-wife Corrine Rose-Levy.

He leaves to cherish his memory his son Tony, daughter-in-law Debbie, son Michael, daughter Patricia, son-in-law Fernando, daughter Ann, son-in-law Wallace, son Vincent Jr, son Julian, daughter-in-law Nadine and was preceded in death by son Bryan.  

He leaves behind several grandchildren: Raven, Kelly, Christopher, Cory, Kiyanna, Justin, Chyna, Shanice, Shanelle, Scott, William, Prince, Jasmine, Jordan, Josh, Samantha and Brent, along with two great grandsons Malik and Nasir. He also leaves a host of extended family. 

He peacefully succumbed to prostate cancer on Friday, November 15 at 3:42 PM in Pembroke Pines, FL.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Saturday November 30, 2019 from 12 P.M. - 3 P.M. with cremation to follow.
