Obituary of Charlie I. Paguio

Please share a memory of Charlie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Charlie Paguio, a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and son, passed away on January 1, 2020 after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 75 in Miami, Florida. Charlie is survived by his mother, Julita Paguio (100 years old); his wife, Cleofe Paguio (nee Rosal); his children, Michael, Carlo, Mark, and Charlita Perez; and his grandchildren, Kota, Maxine, Isabelle, and Mason. He is predeceased by his father, Pablo, and his brothers Celso and Nesting. Charlie Insigne Paguio was born on March 26, 1944 in the small town of Fatima in Mamburao, Philippines to Pablo and Julita Paguio. He is the second of nine children. Charlie was a retired marine engineer who has travelled to many places such as Vietnam, Spain, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, England, China, Haiti, and Italy. Charlie first met Cleofe, a pharmacist, because she was his landlord at an apartment he was renting with his cousin in Galicia, Philippines. They started as good friends and then started dating. A year later, on December 23, 1971, he married his love and together they brought four beautiful children into this world. As a devoted father, he sacrificed everything he had for them, which included being away for long periods to give them a good life. He was an avid musician and even started a band “Pica”, named after one of the ships he had worked on, with his good friends, Ramon, Firman, and Samuel. He was the lead guitarist and also played keyboard. They loved to play cover songs by the Eagles and the song “Love Will Keep Us Alive” was one of their favorites to play. He also enjoyed singing, dancing, farming, and planting. He loved to tend to his fish farm and had a green thumb for his garden and coconut grove in the Philippines. Charlie was a devout Catholic who attended Sunday masses and prayed the rosary while he was travelling for work. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those who knew him. A viewing will be held at Scarano Funeral Home on Stirling Rd. on Sunday January 5, 2020 from 2:00 pm - 5:00pm and 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm. A funeral mass service will be held on Monday January 6, 2020 at 11:30 am at Saint David’s Catholic Church. Charlie Paguio will be buried at Our Lady Queen of Heaven in North Lauderdale to follow. Arrangements by Joseph A. Scarano Stirling Memorial Chapel 6970 Stirling Road, Davie, Florida 33024. Our thoughts and prayers goes out to the family.
