Obituary of Carmelo Difede

On Monday, April 20,2020 , Carmelo “Charlie” DiFede, passed away at the age 90 in Pembroke Pines, Fl. Charlie on was born on May 31,1929 to Francisco and Giovanna DiFede. He proudly served in the Air Force and was a Korean War veteran serving between 1947-1951. He married Helen Leotta DiFede and moved from Deer Park, NY to Miramar, Florida in the early 1970’s to raise their children. Together Charlie and Helen raised two sons, Frank and Salvatore , and two daughters, Jodi and Jill. Charlie was preceded in death by his father, Francisco and his mother, Giovanna as well as his sisters Angela Lashiavo and Rose Sagona. He is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Helen and his four children and their spouses Frank(Mishele),Jodi(Michael),Salvatore(Nicole) and Jill(Robert) and his sister Josephine Testaverde as well as 6 grandchildren: Anthony DiFede, Kayla Sherlock(Cason), Brooke and Giavanna DiFede, Kevin and Victoria Zopfi and his precious great-granddaughter Maddalena Cason. He is also survived by many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Charlie was happiest when surrounded by his children and grandchildren, he looked forward to celebrating every birthday with a cake and a family party. He will be missed by all and remembered for the unwavering love for his children. A Private funeral service will be held on Monday, April 27th with a public memorial to be announced at a later date
