Life of
Louis McBean
On November 6, 1947 in the city of Kingston, Jamaica, Louis McBean Sr. was born to Armon & Mary Jane McBean, Louis was the sixth of seven siblings. He lost his Father during a time when sons needed their father, but his mother who was a force to be reckoned with, tried to fill this void. Louis grew up in Greenich Farm and finally settling down in Spanish Town where he met his wife Angelene in 1973, this union produced two children. Louis with his young family migrated to the USA where he and his wife worked relentlessly to provide a home and a comfortable life for their family, which they achieved. Louis was someone who lived by his own rules and did not tolerate any resistance and his children learned this very early in life. Louis had a third son in Jamaica who he brought home to the USA, several years later, who also learned very quickly that his father had rules that were not flexible. Louis’s strict way and Angelene’s soft touch must have been the right combination, because his sons are men any parent would be proud of. When his first grandchild was born, all his rules and restrictions flew through the window and when the second one came, this was game over.
When all is said and done Louis had a love of his family and worshipped his grandchildren. Music and cooking were his favorite pastime and his chef specialties were curry and jerk pork, he curried anything. The family certainly enjoyed the coming together at his home with food, dominoes and music.
Louis passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 8, 2020 leaving to cherish his memories his loving and devoted wife of 37 years, Angelene McBean, his three sons Lewis Jr, Bruce, and Rolando, three grandsons, Tristan, Ryan, and Noah, daughter-in-law Cynthia, and siblings Madge, Winston, Lloyd and Ann.
There is a song that sums up Louis “I did it my way” may he rest in peace, he will be missed.
