Richard was born on October 28th, 1951 at Victoria Village, East Coast Demerara, Guyana, to Cecil Jeboo and Muriel Ramsahai. Most of his formative years were spent at No. 63/64 Villages, Corentyne where he displayed brilliance both academically and in athletics. He attended the local primary school and then Lutheran High School in Skeldon. He shared his family’s love of living by the beach where he would fish, catch crabs and pull baby sharks out of the sea. It was there that he developed a love of swimming and the sea.
His father, a headmaster, moved the family from the Corentyne to Georgetown so that his children could have a better education. Richard excelled at O’levels and won a scholarship to do his A’levels in Physics, Chemistry and Biology at Queens College. He taught Science at Buxton and St. Joseph’s High Schools while attending the University of Guyana. He graduated with a BSc in Chemistry in 1975. He worked as a Chemist/Brewer/Quality Controller at Banks DIH LTD. from 1978 to 1987.
Richard married Devika in 1976 and together they had two children, Andre and Nandita. They moved to Toronto in 1987 and then to Florida in 1998. He was very witty, had a talent for music and board games and loved entertaining family and friends.
Richard is survived by his wife Devika, son Andre, daughter Nandita, and siblings Ronald, Jennifer (Simon), Rosemary (Leland) and Walter (Maggie). He is predeceased by his parents, Cecil and Muriel Jeboo, and second sibling, Geoffrey (Emil).
