Obituary of Ruth J Malanga

Ruth Marie Judis Israel Fabian Malanga was born May 7,1941, in Berlin, Germany to Dr. Hans Erich and Ruth Hannah Fabian. She passed away after a battle with cancer on January 22, 2021. She was a Holocaust survivor and immigrated to the United States as a child. She grew up in New York City, NY where she met the love of her life in a fortuitous ride on a long distance bus.She married him, Frank Malanga, May 29, 1960.They have two children – Michael Hans Malanga and Ruth Jean Malanga Miller. Ruth enjoyed reading the Bible and praying, quilting by hand, and writing stories about her daughter’s teddy bears. She loved to collect walruses, rubber ducks and pop-up books. Her faith and dedication to God and to her family had a lasting impact on everyone around her. Her love of sewing and writing and her creativity has been passed down to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, Dr. and Mrs. Fabian, her sister, Reha Fabian Arcement. She is survived, and greatly missed, by her husband of 60 years Frank Malanga, her brother Joel Fabian, her children Mike and his wife, Helene Malanga, Ruth and her husband, Jody Miller; her five grandchildren Benjamin and his wife, Michelle Miller, Bethany and her husband, Nate Hundley, Catherine, and her husband, John Bodeker, Nicole Malanga, Elizabeth Malanga; and her eight great-grandchildren Jaqueline, John Isaac, Judah, and Isaiah Hunter Bodeker; Alexander, Ruth, Esther and Timothy Omega Hundley. Named after Ruth are her daughter, Ruth Jean, her granddaughters Bethany Ruth, Hannah Judis, and her great-granddaughters Ruth Faith, and her great-grandson Judah Cole.
