Obituary of Nicola Delciello

Nicola Delciello Obituary Nicola “Nick” Delciello, 90, of Miramar, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, August 11, 2021. He was predeceased by his wife of 60 years of marriage, Antoinette “Toni” Delciello and had one daughter, Renee, who was a true “Daddy’s Girl”. He is survived by two granddaughters and two great grandchildren, as well as extended family still living in Italy. Nicola was born in Pescolanciano, Italy to Pasquale and Filomena Delciello on September 10th, 1930. He lived on a farm in Italy along with his mother, Filomena and sister, Emma. He told stories of how the German soldiers would volunteer the town residents with kitchen duties and how he and his buddies would grow gardens in a mountainous area where the Germans wouldn’t go due to fear of ambush. He loved to regale family and friends with accounts of his youth and good times with his “buddies” filled with food, wine and serenading girls. He joined his father in America in 1946 at the age of sixteen by way of hospital ship, through Ellis Island and then settled in Cleveland, Ohio. He was taught the vehicle mechanic trade, as well as how to do paint and body work on vehicles. He married Antoinette in 1953, and they moved to Florida and lived in Miami for 12 years before moving to Miramar in 1965, where he resided until his death. His previous employers were Johnnie & Mack, Luby Chevrolet and finally Tropical Chevrolet until his retirement at 62 years old. He was passionate about cars and doing body work, so much so that once the Miami Shores P.D. had 2 damaged police cars and Nick was able to fuse the frontend of one car with the backend of the other car to make one functioning police vehicle. As an Italian immigrant living and thriving in America, Nick loved barbequing, building his own BBQ pits, as well as serving as pit boss for many special events while living in Miami and Miramar, including the annual work picnic. He played golf, and his ultimate passions were cruise ship vacations and ballroom dancing. Nick and his wife Toni were known for tearing up every dance floor they encountered. He had “magic hands” being able to fix, DIY, install and maintain anything at his work or home, and was known as a “jack of all trades”, being very proud of his ability to create and invent. He loved his family very much and lived in complete dedication to them, including Toni his wife and his daughter, Renee Moticker, as well as his Granddaughters, Minda Long and Tiffany Franco. He also had much love and adoration for his Great Grandsons, Izaiah and Antonio Franco, and nephews in Italy, Lino and Roberto Delciello, along with their wives Roseanna and Maria Grazia, and children Lorenzo and Sara. In Repose Thursday August 19, 2021 from 2-4 P.M. & 7-9 P.M. at the Joseph A. Scarano Pines Memorial Chapel, Entombment to follow Friday August 20, 2021 at 11 A.M. at Hollywood Memorial Gardens West.
