Obituary of Edmund Gonslawski

Edmund Gonslawski aka Tata and Dziadek, 103 years old, of Brest, Poland, passed away on August 24, 2021 in Pembroke Pines, Florida. Edmund was born in the Irkutsk area, Soviet Union by the Mongolian border to Jan Gonslawski and Michalina Janowicz. Edmund is survived by his wife Alicja, daughter Ewa Kwasnik, grandsons Andre and Eddie Kwasnik, daughters in law Danielle and Jeannine and great grandchildren Alexis, Dylan, Adryanna and Krystina. He is preceded in death by his first wife Krystyna, parents and 12 siblings. Edmund was a World War II veteran. He survived imprisonment in Siberia during the persecution of Polish citizens under the Soviet Occupation. He joined the Anders Army also known as the Polish Corps II in Iran. He fought Nazi German forces in the Italian Campaign, including the Battle of Monte Cassino. Among many awards and medals, he received The Cross of the Polish Army, Cross of Monte Cassino, Cross of Siberian Exile, British Star 1939-1945, Italy Star, France Star… He married his first wife Krystyna (also a WWII Veteran) in Loreto, Italy in September 1945. His life took many twists and turns taking him to Great Britain, and finally to his permanent home of 59 years, the great USA. Edmund was a tool and dye maker before enjoying retirement for 38 years. He loved fishing, fishing with his grandsons, cooking and spending time with his growing family. He belonged and volunteered in numerous Polish organizations receiving The Gold Medal of 50 Years of Volunteering. He will be cremated and put to final rest in the Veteran Cemetery of The National Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa in Doylestown, Pennsylvania. Rest In Peace !!!
