Obituary of Michael Dignardi

MICHAEL "MIKE" JAMES DIGNARDI JUNE 02, 1958—OCTOBER 01, 2014 Michael James Dignardi aged 56; of Hollywood FL; passed peacefully on October 1, 2014 in Memorial Regional Hospital. Mr Dignardi is the second son of Phillip E. Sr and Ann (Mangone) Dignardi of Rome GA. In addition to his parents Michael is survived by his wife of 28 years Anna Johnson Dignardi; a step son Herman Philip Hempel and step daughter Ann Michelle (Hempel) Shaw (Patrick) Brothers Steve of Wantage NJ; Mark Sr of Sparrow Bush NY. Michael was predeceased by his brother Philip Jr. Mike leaves sisters Cindy Sisco Beeman (Scott) of Rome GA and Dawn Mele (Paul Sr.) of Vernon NJ Brothers in law Philip (PA) Johnson (Eileen) of Fair Lawn NJ and Thomas (Topper) Johnson (Susuan) of Dumont NJ. 14 nieces and nephews and 6 grand nieces and nephews. Mike was a graduate of Sussex County Vo-Tech Sparta NJ and McFatter Technical Center Davie FL A Veteran of the U.S. Navy, Michael, served aboard the USS Nashville (LPD-13) from 1977 to 1981. He received the Navy Expeditionary Medal and Sea Service Deployment Ribbon. Mr Dignardi had many occupations including snow maker; sheet metal fabricator; A/C duct installer; supervisor at a commercial laundry; tow truck and roofer. The occupation that Mike enjoyed the most was being a Class A CDL dump truck operator for Weekly Asphalt and Paving Co. of Pembroke Pines, FL. Mike occupied his spare time with several hobbies, which included exploring the many features of his new "smart" phone; viewing movies around the house from his extensive DVD collection and tinkering around the house doing minor repairs. His main passion was in the kitchen trying out new recipes and sharing his culinary creations with the neighbors. His favorite meal was Chinese food; pork fried rice; pork lo mein; chicken chow mein; egg foo young; pepper steak; egg rolls and either pineapple upside down cake or homemade donuts for dessert. Almost every weekend he could be found at the barbeque grilling usually Beer Can Chicken and of course during the football season he always had to make his "wings" to munch on during the Dolphin games. Above all Michael was a kind; gentle man with a good heart and always treated people the way he wanted to be treated with compassion and respect.. He caould always be counted on to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.. He will be dearly missed by his family; neighbors and friends. "I expect to pass through the world but once.
