Obituary of Vittorio Pugliese

Vittorio pugliese, Born May 23 ,1941. What to say about this old style gentleman? He was the simplest guy on Earth. With the face of a Sopranos guy,and the heart of the sweetest chocolate…Speaking about that,food was his life. Literally. Since he was a teenager in the old Italy, he started working in a pastry shop. Where he learned how to make deliciousness with his secret ingredient…. Love. The same love that pushed him away from his own land,and family,with the hope in the heart of this American dream. And boy,that he worked hard for it. He never stopped. The pizza shop quickly became all his life. Starting from New York and coming down to Florida, he learned from the bests and shared all is knowledge with whoever wanted to learn. When you know hunger, and you make yourself all the way up ,it’s an all different appreciation for all the little things. And that’s exactly what he loved the most. The simplest little things. His peaches in his wine, his pasta al dente ,his fishing skills in his little boat in Italy,but mostly,his family. He was a tough man only in his appearance. In reality he was the biggest teddy bear. The sweetness in his smile and warmth in his blue eyes are something that will live for ever in the people that loved, loves,and will always love him the most: His wife Susy, always next to him,to give him the strength and the audacity to go for it;his sons Luigi and Salvatore, his pride and joy ,that will do anything for him,always and forever;His grandchildren, Sofia, Vittorio e Serena which are the ones teaching us that “ we don’t need to be sad, nonno is happy and free to jump and run now”;His daughters in-law that found in him the unconditional love of a dad . He leaves behind a community of people that didn’t need to talk to him to appreciate him, a community that honors him every time that stops by the restaurant, because they know that behind a simple slice of pizza there is a simple man,with a not so simple or easy life, that has a story to tell, a smile to give, and a legacy that will last forever. Thank you for being part of his life,for a second, a minute or a lifetime .
