Born in Long Island City New York worked as a Cab Driver in Manhattan. They moved to Hallandale over 50 years ago. He worked for the Department of Sanitation and became Superintendent of Sanitation until his retirement.
One of the founding families of two Roman Catholic Parishes in Hallandale, St Matthew and St. Charles Borromeo.
He and his wife Anne organized and established the celebration of "Our Lady of Mount Carmel" Feast every year on the 16th of July. For over 25 years it grew at St Charles Borromeo to a tremendous celebration, with many hundreds of Worshipers. It grew from a one day event to 3 days of singing praying and fellowship.
Head of the St. Vincent de Paul Society for many years. Worked helping to feed the poor at the Hepburn Center.
A friend to everyone in need. All you had to do was call him he was there for his family, friend or anyone.
Loved to play golf and was very good. He played with many famous players over his many years. Loved Horses and Horseracing. After his retirement he loved to work at Gulfstream with his late wife Anne every season until his early 80s.
He was specially adored by his great nephew and Godson Joey who was born with Downs Syndrome and needed to see Uncle Nicky and his late Aunt BellaBella always.
His Funeral viewing and Mass will be held at The Cathedral of St Mary. His great nephew, the Very Rev. Christopher Marino, is the Rector of the Cathedral and comforted Uncle both in the Hospital and the last day of his life on earth.
