Juan Cruz Miranda, 97, of Hollywood, FL, passed
away peacefully on Saturday, August 26, 2023 in his home.
Viewing will be held at Scarano Funeral Home 4351 Hollywood Blvd., Hollywood, Florida 33021 on Wednesday, August 30th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Funeral mass will be held on Thursday, August 31st at 11:00 a.m. at Little Flower Catholic Church in Hollywood located at 1805 Pierce Street, Hollywood, FL 33020 with Reverend Javier Barreto officiating. Burial will follow at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Cemetery located at 11411 Northwest 25th Street; Miami, FL 33172. Scarano Funeral Home will be handling funeral arrangements.
Juan was born in Coamo, Puerto Rico to November 25, 1925. As a child, he moved to Ponce, Puerto Rico where he married the love his life Antonia Miranda in 1948. He raised his family in Ponce and volunteered as Boys Scout Troop Leader. He belonged to a bowling league in Puerto Rico and enjoyed playing pool. He was also an avid sports watcher. He worked as a Salesman in Puerto Rico for many years and later moved to Miami where he worked in the fine suits department as salesman at JCPenney of the Omni Mall in Miami, FL where he retired from. He proudly served in the United States military from 1940 to 1946. Of all his accomplishments, serving the church and ministering to the Catechumens was his greatest and proudest joy.
Juan is preceded in death by his beloved wife Antonia Miranda and two sons, Juan Carlos and Ricardo Miranda. He is survived by his wonderful friends and extended family.
Memorial donations may be made in his name to his favorite charities: St. Jude, Disabled Veterans of America, and Boys Town. Yamilca, Noel, and Sebastian wish to extend their gratitude to Luis and Nereida Rodriguez as well as all the friends in particular Jocelyn, Lady Laura, Mayra, Ida, Mirta, and Rosario who helped cared for and loved him dearly.
