Angel Luis Rivera, known to all as Pito, passed away on April 12, 2024
Pito wore many hats, but family always came first. He stepped up as a pillar of strength for his mother, Angelina, when she became a young parent. For his siblings, Omar and Lisa, he wasn't just a brother, but a guiding light and a source of unwavering support. He celebrated their triumphs, like straight A's with ice cream treats, and offered life lessons, sometimes with a playful nudge (like pushing them into the pool!). This fierce protectiveness extended beyond blood, creating a safe haven for his chosen family, his many friends.
Pito wasn't all seriousness. He remained a kid at heart, the coolest uncle with a love for Disney magic, Halloween costumes, and theme park adventures. Movie nights were a must, often with him battling for control of the controller, his gamer spirit shining. Theme park rides, especially the thrilling ones, brought out his infectious enthusiasm. Board game nights were legendary, fueled by friendly competition (especially in dominoes) and his love for trivia, where he was the undisputed champion. A die-hard Miami Dolphins fan, his cheers echoed through every game. Yet, his greatest devotion was reserved for his family and his "pookie," Diana, the love of his life who became his rock when his mother needed extra care.
Pito had a fiery spirit, some might say a temper that could rival the Florida sun. But it always softened, replaced by a comforting presence, a moonlit solace for those he loved when they needed him most. He spoke his mind freely, never one to sugarcoat things. But beneath that gruff exterior beat a heart of pure gold.
Pito leaves a void no one can fill. His laughter, the lessons he imparted, and the fierce love he embodied will be forever cherished. May he find eternal peace, surrounded by his favorite things: the magic of Disney castles, spooky Halloween thrills, and the boundless love of his family.
