Obituary of Maria C. Garcia
Please share a memory of Maria to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
GARCIA
Maria, my mother and the strongest woman I have ever known. She made me who I am. My Dad provided a very good life. However, she left it all behind and brought us to the United States alone with 2 teen age daughters to give us a better life.
We came from Cuba and the very next day, she had us in school. She always told me an education is the biggest asset and nobody can take that away from you and never depend on anyone or a man to achieve your goals.
She worked at a factory and never complained, even though we missed Cuba and wanted to go back. I remember she would catch 2 buses in the cold weather with a few bags of groceries so we could eat the stuff we liked.
I'll never forget one day she showed up with a record player and several albums of the Beatles spending the first few paychecks because it was something she could not provide for us in Cuba and she knew we were crazy about them. She was always trying to make us happy.
I never heard her complain about working at a factory and catching two buses in the cold weather to get home. Shortly after, she learned and trained to be a manicurist and that is what she did for the rest of her life.
She pushed me to buy a home even though we owned a villa because she was always striving to do better. Was my full support raising my son because I was a single mom.
My niece Michele wanted to say how grateful she is. Mom got her a job at the Broward Mall doing make up, which is her current career now. Also, her condominium. Mom had seen it advertised and made her go there immediately. Had she not been so persistent and gave her the downpayment to go there right away, my niece would have missed the opportunity since someone tried to buy it right after they arrived. She still owns the condo today.
I can say so much more about my wonderful, strong, loving, unstoppable Mom, but we don't have all day.
Luv ya forever and a day and I am so thankful for all you did for the family.
Rest in peace my beloved Mom. I will miss you forever until we reunite!
