It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Miguel Angel Vázquez, a beloved husband, father,
grandfather, great-grandfather and entrepreneur. Miguel left us peacefully, surrounded by his family on
Friday, July 19th, 2024, at the age of 81, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, laughter, and life lessons. He was a resident of Aventura, Florida and a cherished member of our community. Miguel was born on November 22, 1942 in Havana, Cuba to Miguel Angel Vázquez and Aida Calvo Vázquez. Miguel was a loving husband to his devoted wife, Maria Luisa Vázquez, for over 60 wonderful years. He was a caring father to his three children, all married, Margarita Vázquez Purvis (Glenn), Miguel Angel Vázquez, Jr. (Ivette), and Maria Luisa Vázquez Mason (Chris), and a proud grandfather to his six grandchildren (Carolina, Jonathan, Isabella, Michael, Celia and Liliana and one great-grandchild, Ava. He was also a father figure to many, especially Ali Guven Kivilcim, Anna Laniado, and Adrian Estrada.
In his professional life, Miguel was a successful entrepreneur in the communications industry. His innovative
spirit and dedication to his work were admired by many. His passion for speed and adventure extended to his
love of cars, motorcycles, planes, and boats. He was an accomplished pilot who loved to fly and travel, especially with his close friends. His competitive spirit was evident in his love for playing dominos, a game he
played with passion and skill. Above all, Miguel cherished spending time with his family and friends. His love
for his family and friends was evident in every aspect of his life. He was a pillar of strength and a source of
inspiration for all who knew him.
His viewing will be held Tuesday, July 23, 2024, 5-7pm, at Joseph H. Scarano Funeral Home, 4351 Hollywood
Blvd., Hollywood, FL 33021. The entombment will be held Wednesday, July 24, 2024, noon, at Our Lady
Queen of Peace Cemetery, 10941 Southern Blvd., Royal Palm Beach, FL 33411. A casual gathering to follow
at the home of Chris and Marisa Mason, Wellington, FL 33414.
Miguel's memory will forever be etched in our hearts. His love, wisdom, and spirit will continue to guide us.
He will be deeply missed. From his favorite song, “Life is a Carnival” by Celia Cruz, “Everyone who thinks that life is unfair, needs to know that's not the case, that life is beautiful, you just have to live it. Oh, you don’t have to cry for life is a carnival and it's more beautiful to live singing.”
