Obituary of Yolanda Scarpati
Please share a memory of Yolanda to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Yolanda "Yo" Scarpati departed this life on Tuesday, August 6th, 2024, at the age of 98. She was born on January 22nd, 1926, in Brooklyn, New York, to her loving parents, Almerinda and Alfredo Monaco. Growing up, Yolanda enjoyed spending time with her family and excelled in swimming and singing.
In 1949, Yolanda married Dominick Irrera, with whom she raised three wonderful children: Michael, Stephen, and Melinda. After his tragic passing, Yolanda found love again with Marty Scarpati, married in 1974, with whom she helped raise her three children along with his two— Marty and Marilyn— creating a beautiful, blended family.
Yolanda, affectionately known as "Noni" by her grandchildren, cherished spending time with family. Whether it was going out to lunch for coconut shrimp and a margarita, visiting the flower market, going for a ride on the golf cart, or sitting in the garden with Roscoe by her side, she was all smiles and laughter. She spent the final year of her life in the loving care of her daughter, Melinda.
Yolanda had grit. She overcame hardships to create better lives for her children, teaching them to live their lives with love in their hearts. She was a pillar of light in this mixed-up world. While our hearts mourn the loss of this wonderful woman, friend, mother, and grandmother, we find comfort in knowing she is no longer suffering.
Yolanda is survived by her children—Michael (Lucretia), Stephen (Debra), Melinda (Stephen), Marty (Jan), and Marylin (Kurt)— her grandchildren—Alexandra, Eleni (Eryn), Domenick (Jocelyn), Samantha (Wendy), Nicole, Maizeanne (Jon), Robert, and Tara (Dan)— and her great grandchildren— Breanna, Melody, Elijah, Tony and AJ— as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
