Nina was born in Camaguy Cuba to parents Arestedes Garcia and Herminia Victoria Garcia on December 23, 1947. She moved to the United States when she was 2 years old. She completed her studies and graduated from Miami Jackson Senior High School class of 1965. She went on to study to be a translator speaking French but never completed her degree as she cared for her mother suffering from breast cancer.
Nina worked as a school secretary at W.J. Bryan Elementary School for 20 years. She enjoyed her Facebook family, reading, writing poetry, children books, traveling, visiting Disney World, watching classic musicals and spending time with her family and dear friends. Nina received the honor of being awarded secretary of the year in 1996 and was involved in her High School reunion group. She participated in activities at the YMCA of Hollywood and was an active lecturer at her home church Little Flower Catholic Church.
Nina was survived by her son Michael Garcia, his wife Nathacha and their children Jasmine, Jordan and Joshua of Pembroke Pines, Florida. Nina’s brother Nelson Garcia, wife Ruth Garcia and their sons Nicholas and Bradley Garcia, wives Alexis and Katrina and children Lucas, Noelle, Cleo, Liliana and Mireia of Gaithersburg, MD. Last but not least, dearest most beloved friend Norma Garcia of Miami Lakes, Fl.
The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to all who have come to celebrate Nina’s life today, and those who have shared words and prayers of comfort.
Nina never wanted us to be saddened by her passing, rather to celebrate her life with fond memories shared while with us. May her soul rest in the peace of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ.
