Madeline "Helen" DiFede September 7, 1932 – September 16, 2024
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Madeline "Helen" DiFede, who left us peacefully on September 16, 2024, at the age of 92. Born in Sicily, Helen embarked on an incredible journey as a young girl, traveling by boat with her mother and sisters and arriving in New York. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Carmelo "Chuck" DiFede, her sisters Amalia “ Molly” Lemieux and Catherine “Katie” DeLorenzo,. She is survived by her sister, Josephine “Josie” Rosselli, brother Benedetto “Benny” Leotta, and her four devoted children: Frank DiFede (Kristie Arguello), Jodi Malament (Michael), Salvatore DiFede (Cynthia Maltese), and Jill Zopfi (Robert).
Helen’s legacy lives on through her many grandchildren: Kayla Cason(Chad), Anthony DiFede(Sabrina), Brooke and Giavanna DiFede and their Mother Nicole DiFede, Kevin and Victoria Zopfi, and her great granddaughter and pride and joy namesake, Maddalena Cason. She also leaves behind many cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins. Helen was known for her sharp wit, a love for all things leopard print, and her undeniable fashion sense. But more than anything, she was known for her love and devotion to her family.
Helen dedicated her life to raising her four children in Miramar, Florida, creating a warm and welcoming home that became a hub for the neighborhood kids, all eager to sample her famous homemade Italian cooking. She had a unique ability to make everyone laugh with her candid humor and never failed to surprise us with the things she said. Helen’s zest for life shone brightest during family gatherings, where she was surrounded by her large, loving family. Her warmth, her laughter, and her sense of style will be deeply missed, but her memory will continue to bring joy to all who knew and loved her. Undoubtedly she is making the angels laugh in heaven. She will be greatly missed and remembered dearly by her family and friends.
