English Version: Ruben Arvelo Quiñones, 86, of Pembroke Pines, FL passed away on September 24, 2024, in Pembroke Pines, FL. Visitation will be held at 9000 Pines BLVD, Pembroke Pines, Florida 33024 on September 29, 2024, between 5:00pm and 9:00 pm with a service officiated by Reverend Bobby Cruz Jr. and Danny Berrios at 7:00pm. Funeral Service will be held at 9000 Pines BLVD, Pembroke Pines, Florida 33024 on September 30, 2024, at 10:00 am with Reverend Ricardo Pedrini officiating. Burial will follow at South Florida National Cemetery, 6501 S. State Road 7 Lake Worth, FL 33449. Joseph A. Scarano Funeral Homes will be handling the funeral arrangements. The cemetery does not allow us to bring more than one flower arrangement, please consider gifting a sympathy plant or a donation to his widow in lieu of flowers. Ruben was born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico to Miguel Arvelo y Mercedes Quiñones on April 3, 1938. He went to High School at Rafael Lopez Landron and graduated in 1956. He went on to earn a degree in Education from La Universidad de Puerto Rico. He joined the Army and then joined the Puerto Rico Police where he served as an agent for the CIC (Centro de Investigaciones Criminales). In 1965, while in an undercover mission, he was gunned and injured, and ultimately retired from the force in 1969. When he was 36, in 1976, he enlisted on what would become his life’s highest position, he joined God’s Army. He served as an evangelist and a pastor and continued to spread the love and word of God until his final day. Ruben is survived by the love of his life, Tomasa Torres, whom he married in 1959 and with whom he shared 65 years of marriage; his children: Lydia Arvelo, Ruben Arvelo Jr, and Miguel Arvelo; 9 of his 10 grandchildren: Brenda Velazquez, Nivea Arvelo, Rumarie Correll, Stephanie Arvelo, Nicole Moya, Natasha Moya, Ashley Arvelo, Patrick Arvelo and Alexandria Arvelo. His 17 great-grandchildren: Raylier “Puchito” Hernandez, Genessy Colon, Zoeliz “La Chachi” Hernandez, Darveany Santiago, Adner Rodriguez, Luna Rodriguez, Nila Acevedo, Reyna Acevedo, Melissa Acevedo, Elijah Moya, Izaiah Moya, Genesis Flores, Mia Correll, Michael “Chabelo” Correll, Christopher Arvelo, Matthew Correll, Gracelynn Arzola; 3 great-great-grandchildren: Aleynis Rios, Romme Hernandez, and Azaia Almanzar and his sister Lidia Arvelo. He is preceded in death by his father Miguel Arvelo, mother Mercedes Quiñones, his brothers Samuel Rodriguez, Raul Arvelo, and Elias Arvelo, his sisters Marina Arvelo, Carmen Arvelo, Ana Arvelo and Luz Arvelo and his grandson Christopher Arvelo. Luego obtuvo su diploma en Educación de la Universidad de Puerto Rico. Se unió al Army y luego a la Policía de Puerto Rico, donde sirvió como agente del CIC (Centro de Investigaciones Criminales).
