Obituary of Joseph Glavin
Please share a memory of Joseph to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On October 13, 2024 heaven was graced by its newest angel -JOEY GLAVIN.
He was a prince among men & enjoyed more than 91 years of a truly special life of love & great friendships.
He joined the U.S. NAVY at age 17 and left his life in NEW YORK CITY to experience the world and learn the discipline that became the pillar of his life.
Upon his return to BROOKLYN, he was invited to a church dance where he met his adoring wife, JOAN SUMMERVILLE. Their whirlwind romance led to 58 years of marriage & devoted love that created a beautiful life & legacy.
He was a Teamster and worked for several trucking companies in Brooklyn & New Jersey. Later in his life he worked for the New York Racing Association where he continued to be the best father and husband to his family.
Their marriage was blessed with two beautiful children, Joseph and Teresa. Their lives revolved around their family and they provided only the very best for them and each other.
They retired to Florida in 1992 where they began to enjoy their GOLDEN YEARS in CENTURY VILLAGE. Their days were a buzz with endless activities from EARLY BIRD DINNERS with 18 friends, to dances, trips and cruises with their new and old friends.
Those special days were fun filled with his two passions – Sailing & Water Volleyball. His sailing skills were honed to a championship level as he won medals in many races and even participated in the Senior Games in South Florida.
In 1998 their world was blessed with the birth of their granddaughter, TESS ROWLAND. She is truly the SUNSHINE of their lives and became the center of their UNIVERSE. They enjoyed many cruises and vacations filled with magnificent memories with Tess.
His zest for life and spirit will certainly live on in all of us. We invite you to share your memories of his inspirational & loving life either at his funeral service or mass ….or maybe just leave us a message of how he impacted your life…
