He developed a passion for competitive cycling during his youth and graduated from Somerville HS in the summer of 1952. Shortly after, he left for Florida and worked for Southern Bell for two years. He met and married his beautiful wife Jean Ann Beers at Grace Methodist Church on November 24, 1954 and headed to Havana Cuba for their honeymoon on a cruise aboard SS Florida. They moved back to New Jersey, when Ma Bell went on strike, where he began working in construction with his brothers Frank and Sam. Chuck was proud of his twelve years of service in the US Navy Seabees reserves. He was very involved with youth programs with the Hialeah Optimist, where he served as President and coached football. He also distinguished himself as Florida’s Optimist Lt Governor and spent many years coaching youth baseball in the Hialeah Athletic Association. Chuck enjoyed a distinguished financial career with Domestic Finance, Citizens Federal, First Miami Securities and Quest Capital Strategies, retiring in February 2010 at age of 75. In retirement, at age 80, he taught himself to play the piano on his old Hammond Organ. An avid sports fan, Chuck loved cheering for UM and Navy football, and the Dolphins, Marlins and Heat. He cherished traveling, especially with family. He loved cruising with Jean and vacationing at his cabins in North Carolina. His favorite tradition was the annual Memorial Day Weekend spent with the entire family on Sanibel Island. Chuck was predeceased by his beloved wife Jean Ann. He is survived by his loving son Chuck Jr. (Janet) and daughter Laura (Richard).
