Obituary of Lorraine J. Engel

Lorraine passed away at home with her family by her side. She was predeceased by her family husband Leo Engel and her son Michael Engel. She is survived by her brother, James (Patti) Corey, her children Bruce, and Gregory Engel. She had 12 grandchildren and 16 living great grandchildren and one deceased great grandchild. Lorraine was a devout Catholic and Saint Bernadette was her church for 55 years. She entered the Legion of Mary in 1976 at Saint Bernadette’s and she held various official positions. She was president of the Mystical Rose Persidium of the Junior League of Mary at Saint Bernadette School. She also volunteered to do prison ministry to counsel woman on matters of faith. On January 2017, she became the President of he Miami-Dade/Broward Junior Curia for a term 3 years. Due to covid she had to resign. She was a lector at mass, a Eucharistic Minister and brought Communion to several home bound parishioners. A booth at the annual Church Carnival was dedicated to the Legion of Mary. She would hand out rosaries, holy cards, and miraculous medals. Of course she would lovingly tell anyone who would listen about the importance of prayer and devotion to Mary. The rosary was her favorite prayer. Nothing could stop her, not even her hands when she could no longer move through the beads. She would use her fingers to count the prayers. Always had a smile and a loving gentle way. Never had a complaint, she is and always will be a saint. She loved everyone and everyone loved her. Her life was devoted to Jesus, the Blessed Mother, her family and her friends. She will be missed by all. In Repose Monday, January 27, 2025 from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Funeral Mass Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. St. Bernadette Catholic Church following Burial at 1:30 P.M. South Florida VA National Cemetery.
