It’s been months since Bobby left us… we all missed Bobby on all the birthdays and anniversaries and holidays and all the future events in the family. Bobby was the guy who always had his phone and iPad ready to take pictures, even with reluctant and grumpy subjects like us. I think it was Peachy the one who said that we were always “complaining “ when we had to pause and pose while Bobby was setting up his tripods for picture takings… but in the end, thank goodness Bobby took the time and effort to get those pictures for us to reminisce. Bobby was the “party” guy… setting up the room/walls with buntings and those Happy Birthday.. Happy New Year… Merry Christmas..Happy Anniversary signs…arranging his various musical instruments… the piano electric guitars banjos harp saxophone flute cello bells kettle drums violin classic guitar amplifiers.. and believe me, he could play all those musical instruments like a one-man-band. I remember my sisters, particularly Tikki, who was so impressed with Bobby when he did his one-man concert during a dinner they had in your house. “Bobby, you should be on TV… you should appear on TV…” she kept saying to him. And indeed Bobby played with gusto… from Bach’s Ave Maria to Liszt’s to Chopin’s etudes to Led Zeppelin..to Jimi Hendrix to the Eagles and to Pilipino OPM’s and even to Candy Dulfer’s Lily Was Here( one of the last piece of music that Bobby was trying to learn in the saxophone!). Bobby was the guy with the “like I care attitude” when it came to his attires… in church he would be wearing the color of the liturgical occasion, be it red or green or purple or his Knights of Columbus full regalia with all its cape and plumed hat. He couldn’t care less if some may think it’s kinda funny to be wearing an all red or all green suit… hey it’s supposed to be Christmas… red or green is the color of the day!And he was fond of improvising his own music stand with its own “built-in-microphone and camera” and would be recording the music. I somehow wonder why he kept sending those videos to his acquaintances ( reluctant recipients lol) but then he said “so you won’t forget me”…
Bobby, as long as I have all those Bible books and paraphernalia’s and charts and picture Bible books that you gave me to help me understand the word of God, you will forever be in my heart…you will not be forgotten by the people whose lives you have touched and inspired with your faith and unabashedly Godly attitude… I know that it takes a special kind of person to fully loved , appreciate and understand you and rest assured, you have those special people and friends … Rest in peace Bobby! You fought a good fight , with patience and kindness and endurance and nary a complaint and with all fortitude that only a strong faith in God could sustain. You are an amazing person … as one of your musical compositions says “in my Father’s house are many mansions John 14:2 and I could just imagine you saying “what a beautiful place I am right now … “like a forever child in awe of something new whether it was a new place or thing that you saw
